Crawler FAQ
Mostly you would not, at first. Run both. Crawler wins on three things: your AI client can drive a real crawl through a first-class MCP server, it computes actual PageRank on your link graph, and it tracks each fix through to a verified re-check. Screaming Frog still has more individual checks and a more mature CLI.
The build for your platform: a universal macOS app for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple; a signed 64-bit Windows installer; or a Linux AppImage, with a .deb for Debian and Ubuntu. Auto-updates are cryptographically signed and verified against a key embedded in the app before anything installs.
Onto your own disk. We run no crawl server and cannot see your crawls. The only data that leaves your machine is what an integration you configured needs: a Google API call, or a prompt to the AI provider whose key you entered.
No. It is the complete audit, Action Center and verification loop, including the MCP server, with no time limit and no account. Paid tiers add JavaScript rendering, integrations, crawl history, scheduling, exports and client reporting.
You buy inside the app, which opens a LemonSqueezy checkout. The licence is bound to one machine. Moving to a new Mac currently means deactivating on the old one, which releases the local token. Tell us if you are stuck and we will sort it out.
Any LLM or AI client where an MCP server can be connected and invoked. The server ships with the app, so there is nothing separate to install or keep running.
Yes, with a Marketer licence and a local Chrome or Chromium. Rendering uses a bounded hydration delay rather than waiting for guaranteed network idle, and a failed render is recorded as a failure rather than counted as a successful rendered check.
No. It finds issues, helps you prioritise and assign them, and verifies the result after your team ships the change. It does not edit your site.
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. An audit describes conditions on your website. Whether an AI assistant cites or recommends you has to be measured separately. That is what VisibilityKit Intelligence does.
Not today. The desktop scheduler runs while Crawler is open, so leave it running for scheduled work.
Yes. The download button detects your operating system and serves the matching build: macOS, Windows or Linux. The other platforms are linked right under it, and every build comes from the same signed release pipeline.
